With reference to my despatches No. 91 of April 23rd and No. 108 of May 6th, transmitting copies of Dr. Gordon King's and Mrs. Priestwood's reports on events and conditions in Hongkong, I have the honour to forward, herewith, a report written by an Australian Chinese lady who left Hongkong on March 4th and recently arrived here.

2. Much of the material in this report is not new, but it is well-written and contains a good deal that is of interest. The writer, being Chinese, was of course not interned. The suggestion in paragraph 20 that military personnel interned at hamshuipo have given their parole not to try to escape has not reached us from any other source. My Military Attache, who is visiting Kwangtung shortly, will endeavour to ascertain whether or not it is true. At his request a copy of the report is being sent to the Director of Military Intelligence, India; an additional copy is also enclosed with this despatch, for communication to the War Office,

I have, etc.

The Right Honourable

Robert Anthony Buen, M.C.,

FOREICH OFFICE,

London.

(Signed) H. Seymour.
